War correspondents who spread unreliable information about the course of the fighting during a special operation must be held to account. Deputy Oleg Matveychev reported this to socialbites.ca. According to him, military reporters make fake money, attract subscribers and post advertising posts.
“The Ukrainian CIPSO has found some kind of stuffing, and our irresponsible military reporters distribute all this only for their own deception. Moreover, they still make money from it. Then they sell NKVD Finns of all kinds, advertise bank cards, etc. Because they have a lot of subscribers. It’s a job, but the job is in our blood. How long can you last in our country when information warfare agents and information warfare officers are Ukrainian, when they actually feel normal and act patriotic, when they are arrogant? You see, our officials are not patriotic, our people are not patriotic, our army and military leadership are not patriotic at all. And they are the only patriots among us. At the same time, they actually work for Ukraine and do not bear any responsibility. It’s time to stop, they need to be punished. Administrative first, then criminal responsibility if they don’t understand,” he said.
Matveychev added that the Russians who rebroadcast the false publications of military correspondents should also bear responsibility.
“It is necessary to impose such a responsibility on other people, ordinary people, who only repost their publications, so that people think they are republishing. Everyone knows that there is no such responsibility anymore and you can repost with confidence. But if one, the other, the third is penalized, people will also consider whether it is worth making these posts. So stop putting up with it anymore,” he concluded.
On the evening of May 11, several Russian war correspondents on Telegram channels reported that a counterattack by Ukrainian troops had begun. They wrote that the Ukrainian army was advancing in the direction of Artemovsk (Bakhmut). Then the beginning of the Ukrainian offensive was denied by the authorities of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. The Ministry of Defense reported that after the publications about the start of the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army also appeared, the information about the defense breakthroughs “does not correspond to reality”. According to the agency, the situation in the special operations zone was under the control of the Russian armed forces.
