According to Rospotrebnadzor, as of the 18th week of 2023, 41.3 thousand people applied to health institutions due to vinegar ticks. Last week, this number was only 21.7 thousand people.

Cases of tick-borne viral encephalitis and borreliosis infections continue to be detected. Currently, 2.02 million people in Russia have been vaccinated against tick-borne viral encephalitis. In total, more than 3.48 million people are scheduled to be vaccinated this season.

To avoid a tick bite, you should choose plain, light-colored clothing that covers as much of the body surface as possible – it will be easier to spot the tick on it. Also, don’t lie on the grass. A full body and clothing examination should be done after returning from the forest. Most often, sucking mites can be found in the groin, armpits, behind the ears.

If you find a tick stuck to your body, you should contact the trauma center to remove it. If a rash or flu-like symptoms occur after a tick bite, you should consult a general practitioner or infectious disease specialist. To clarify the diagnosis, a specialist may recommend a blood test for antibodies to borreliosis.

Meanwhile, the ministry noted that the incidence of flu, SARS and COVID-19 continued to decline.
