In the next 10-15 years, neural networks will be able to replace almost all line staff: accountants, lawyers, copywriters, proofreaders, designers, programmers, cashiers, salespeople, couriers, etc. But there are also areas where artificial intelligence cannot compete with humans. Therefore, even the most perfect neural network cannot be compared to people you need to come up with non-standard solutions, show empathy. This applies, for example, to architects, journalists, educators, psychologists and lawyers. This was told to socialbites.ca by an expert in the field of fintech, the deputy general manager of PJSC SPB Exchange for the development of international projects in the field of DeFi and FinTech, the general manager of the NP RTS Association and the jury member of Artful. Intelligence 2023 prize Maxim Volkov.
According to the expert, the power of artificial intelligence is that it can analyze all the options available to solve a problem and choose the best one. But when you need to come up with something fundamentally new, something that no one has tried yet, the neural network gives up because this non-standard solution is not put in its memory by the developers.
“Artificial intelligence will not be able to compete with real creators, even in areas where it can replace entire line experts. You can create a news feed with the help of a neural network – but that doesn’t replace a brilliant interviewer who can talk to even the most closed-minded reporter. And yes, AI will design the perfect building in any style – but not create its own architectural style. Therefore, the creators certainly do not need to be afraid of competition,” said Maxim Volkov.
In addition, the fields of activity that artificial intelligence will never replace are the only ones that require empathy because artificial intelligence does not have emotional intelligence. This does not mean that AI cannot be used in education, for example.
“Artificial intelligence can explain any topic in an accessible way, taking into account the knowledge level of a particular student, choosing existing examples, and even taking into account the student’s mood. But no artificial intelligence can comfort a frightened first grader, share the joy of their first victory with children, teach them to be friends and respect each other. Therefore, in pedagogy, neural networks will be excellent helpers – but they will not replace the teacher, ”explained the expert.
He also noted that artificial intelligence cannot replace psychologists, social workers and other professionals who are responsible not only for physical comfort but also for the mood of their wards.
“Another area where neural networks will find it difficult to compete with humans due to their lack of empathy is sales. Of course, this is not about supermarket vendors – they will soon be replaced by “robots”. But to make sure that a person who comes for fishing eventually buys a jeep – only a person with knowledge of psychology and well-developed empathy can do this, ”said the jury member of the Artful Intelligence 2023 award.
The same goes for legal science. AI will easily draw up standard or even completely non-standard contracts based on the given parameters. But he will never, at least in the near future, be able to make a speech in court that will impress not only the jury but also the judge.
“Artificial intelligence is an ideal performer, but not creative. Volkov will be an excellent assistant in any professional field, freeing a person from routine tasks and freeing up time for creativity, allowing each of us to be unique in our own way.
