Russian scientists have created glasses to help blind people navigate. In this respect informs TASS.

Authorship of the development, St. Petersburg State Aerospace Instrumentation University (GUAP). The glasses give the wearer tactile signals about the environment and help them avoid hitting obstacles.

“Our solution is a technological and stylish device, a framed glasses with built-in distance sensors and haptic feedback. At a distance of up to two meters, the device allows the user to feel as they sort the obstacles around by distance – the closer the obstacles, the stronger the vibration, ”say the scientists.

According to the developers, such glasses can work in addition to the cane, as they do not allow you to notice obstacles above the knee. Engineers believe their glasses are not only cheaper than similar devices, but also more comfortable to wear and easier to learn. The development has already passed the first tests with the participation of real blind people and has proven its effectiveness.
