It turns out that the E-MOTIVE product package can effectively stop bleeding after childbirth. Reported by the University of Birmingham.

Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), defined as more than 500 ml of blood loss within 24 hours of birth, is the leading cause of maternal death worldwide. It is estimated to affect 14 million women each year and cause about 70,000 deaths, mostly in low- and middle-income countries, equivalent to one death every 6 minutes.

Doctors were spent testingMore than 200,000 women participated in the trials in four countries using the WHO E-MOTIVE bleeding control package. The package contains an accurate measurement of the amount of blood lost using a special napkin, after which the doctors take all measures to stop the blood at once (and not in order, as previous attempts have failed). Currently, the main problem in responding to postpartum hemorrhage is that it is often detected too late to respond effectively. Most healthcare professionals use visual examination to evaluate bleeding; this tends to underestimate blood loss and can lead to life-threatening delays in treatment.

In the framework of E-MOTIVE, after detecting large-scale bleeding, emergency treatment is carried out: uterine massage, means to shrink the uterus and stop bleeding, intravenous fluids are given and, if necessary, surgical intervention.

During the tests, it turned out that the method reduces the number of cases of severe bleeding (when a woman loses more than a liter of blood) by 60%, and also significantly reduces the death rate.
