Military conflicts in Ukraine and Sudan have led to an increase in the incidence of tuberculosis around the world. It has been reported Associated press (AP).
Refugees who can carry the disease to Europe pose a particular problem, according to the agency. The situation will be discussed at a UN session.
Stop TB Partnership Executive Director Dr. Lucica Ditiu noted that Ukraine has the highest number of TB patients and a large number of drug-resistant TB patients in the European Region with 34,000 people.
“Ukrainians actually show incredible resilience by doing everything possible to maintain TB treatment services… But everyone is concerned that people in Ukraine have access to treatment,” Ditiu said.
