Roskosmos posted a photo taken by the Kanopus-V Earth remote sensing satellite on its Telegram channel.

The comment on the image is as follows: “Roscosmos continues to monitor the situation with fires in the Sverdlovsk region. A picture of our Canopus-V satellite – this space assistant promptly notifies ground services of natural disasters.

The image showed the situation as of the morning of 8 May. According to the official report, the fire covered more than 54.1 thousand hectares of forest.

More than 4.8 thousand experts and about 6 thousand volunteers are fighting the fire.

The fires that broke out in the Middle Urals on May 9 are planned to be extinguished on an area of ​​​​at least 2,000 hectares and localized at 19,000.
