The head of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia Alexander Kurenkov urgently flew to the Kurgan region, reports telegraph channel sections.
A strong wind is contributing to natural fires starting to threaten some settlements in the area.
According to the minister, natural fires from forests and dry grass have already spread to several settlements. Kurenkov described the current situation as “difficult”. The head of the Ministry of Emergencies added that it is necessary to personally visit the fire sites in order to assess the situation on the spot and to concentrate the necessary forces, taking into account all risks and factors.
Together with the minister, an operational group of the division flew to the Kurgan region.
Earlier, it was reported that there was a risk of fire in eight settlements where more than 4,000 people live in the region. For security reasons, evacuation 765 local residents. The number of buildings destroyed in the fires in the villages of Ivankovo, Kodskoye, Uldus and Ploskoy rose to 42.
