“The villages of Ert, Byas-Kyuel and Magaras are threatened by partial flooding in the Highlands due to rising water levels in the small rivers Khaar Balagan, Dyuktuene and Chakyya,” the message says.
In the village of Byas-Kyuel, which became famous after the severe forest fires in Yakutia, a school, 18 houses, a library, a museum and a post office are at risk of flooding. Yert village has 11 houses, a district boiler room and a gym.
There is also a risk of flooding in the regional center, the village of Berdigestyakh.
District officials note that the villagers were informed of the danger and, if necessary, the evacuation of people was prepared – the authorities prepared temporary shelters.
