Bloomberg: NATO held exercises for fear that Russia would attack European and US infrastructure

NATO countries are wrapping up exercises on Friday (May 5th) to increase surveillance of submarines, after the alliance warned that Moscow is “watching the most important underwater objects of the European Union and the United States”. It has been reported Bloomberg.

According to US Navy Rear Admiral and NATO Submarine Commander Stephen Mack, the asymmetric threat of submarines lies in their secrecy, as well as the fact that other countries do not know where they are operating.

“It’s important for us to train Alliance members on how to understand the environment that submarines will try to use to stay undetected,” Mack said.

The agency submarines patrol aircraft, surface ships and friendly submarines of 12 NATO countries, including the United States, Canada, Spain and Portugal, as part of NATO exercise called Dynamic Mongoose, which began on April 24.
