The ceremony was held at NASA headquarters. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky formally signed the agreements in the presence of representatives of NASA and the US State Department.

“I see this signature as a historic event only because it opens up new opportunities for cooperation between the Czech Republic and the US and other partners. “It also testifies to our commitment to a peaceful, transparent and responsible approach to space exploration.”

At the same time, a specific plan of the Czech Republic for space exploration was not disclosed. The Artemis Accords were proposed by the Donald Trump administration and signed in 2020 by representatives from the US, Australia, UK, Italy, Canada, Luxembourg, UAE and Japan. Later, other states joined, and together with the Czech Republic, their total number reached 24.

Its main provisions include the prohibition of weapons, the desire to exchange information and mutual assistance, as well as the refusal to allocate space resources in line with colonial seizures on Earth. According to a number of experts, these agreements are important to the United States not as a declaration but as a way to create a space coalition in which they will play the role of an informal leader.
