Petr Tishchenko, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Archive Committee, proposed to change the name of the Northern capital to Leningrad on memorable dates associated with the Great Patriotic War, transmits Moyka78.

It is stated that Tishchenko announced such an initiative at the museum of defense and blockade in Solyany Lane. There, the exhibition “Symbols of Victory: The Golden Star of the Hero City of Leningrad” resumed its work.

On May 4, students, parents and teachers of Russian schools took part in the All-Russian action “Immortal Regiment in Every School” to honor the memory of valiant ancestors. The children stood in line with portraits of relatives who had participated in the Great Patriotic War and honored their memory with a minute of silence. After that, thematic lesson hours “Conversations on Important Subjects” were held for schoolchildren, during which heroic stories were told, poems and songs dedicated to the Great Patriotic War were sung.
