The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) confiscated the property of Ukrainian businessman Vadim Novinsky for more than 10.5 billion hryvnia ($287 million). It has been reported TASS.
The ministry stressed that the “secret” assets of sanctioned oligarch Novinsky were confiscated. The service noted that the SBU blocked 230 properties Novinsky owned through an offshore trust fund. They emphasized that the arrest was applied to a hotel complex in the center of Kiev, the Ochakov sea trade port, an agricultural holding building and shopping centers in different parts of Ukraine.
Former Ukrainian court arrested corporate rights of Oksana Marchenko, wife of opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk, at the JSC Zaporozhye Ferroalloy Plant.
The SBU noted that the court decision concerned 13.7% of the company’s shares, owned by the politician’s wife through four offshore companies.
They added that arresting Oksana Marchenko’s assets would protect them from being sold or re-registered as candidates and would allow them to be transferred to the state in the future.
