Some vitamins should not be taken at the same time. At best, they will interfere with each other’s assimilation, and at worst, they will provoke various diseases. In an interview with Gazeta, endocrinologist Elena Ostrovskaya, a specialist in preventive and anti-aging medicine at the EMC European Medical Center, noted that especially such unsuccessful couples contain: calcium and iron or magnesium, as well as vitamin C and iron. ru.
“Calcium affects the absorption of many elements. For example, it inhibits the absorption of iron, so it is recommended to avoid taking it at the same time: this can lead to iron deficiency in the body. Iron deficiency anemia can cause fast or irregular heartbeats. Under these conditions, the heart has to pump more blood to make up for the lack of oxygen in the blood due to anemia. This can lead to an enlarged heart or heart failure, ”explained the expert.
If, according to the prescription of the attending physician, the patient needs both substances, it is better to take them at different times, for example, calcium in the morning and iron in the evening.
“High doses of calcium also inhibit magnesium absorption. Many studies confirm that it can increase the risk of metabolic, inflammatory and cardiovascular disease. Also, you should not take calcium and multivitamins at the same time – they will not be effective, ”Ostrovskaya added.
According to him, you should not take vitamin C and iron at the same time. The fact is that vitamin C improves the absorption of iron, so people with hemochromatosis or other diseases associated with an excess of iron should not combine them: the first increases the absorption of the second in the intestine, so this can aggravate the course of diseases.
