Ministry of Labor United States of America fined three dealers fast food chain McDonald’s after confirming that they have 305 minors work illegally, including two ten-year-olds.
A fine of $212,544 (€191,829)imposed on three franchises operating 62 locations in Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland, and Ohio.

Karen Garnett Civils, regional director of the Wage and Hour Division in Louisville, Kentucky, said, “Very often, employers are breaking child labor laws protecting young workers”.
“Under no circumstances should a ten-year-old work around hot grills, ovens and deep fryers in a fast-food kitchen. We are witnessing an increase in federal child labor law violations,” he denounced.
A supervisor of one of the chains said in a statement that two ten-year-old boys came to the building to visit their father, who is the night supervisor.
He also wanted to make it clear that “any ‘work’ is done under his father’s supervision and presence”.He added that they did not receive any authority from their superiors.
