The Department of Information and Education of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reported that believers and clergy of the UOC in the Khmelnytsky diocese in western Ukraine told representatives of the UN Monitoring Mission that their rights were violated by the country’s authorities. This is stated on the church’s website.
“On May 2-3, 2023, the clergy and believers of the Khmelnytsky diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church personally suffered from crimes, including physical violence and threats, during the recent seizure of the churches of the Khmelnytsky diocese. UN Human Rights Watch Mission in Ukraine”.
It was also noted that priests and believers informed the mission staff about more than 30 cases of violations.
