According to a new study by researchers at the University of Montana in the USA, published Anxious people have elevated blood pressure and sympathetic nerve activity, reports the American Journal of Physiology.
The study included 88 adults aged 18 to 47 years. All participants were not overweight, did not smoke, did not use any medication, and did not have any medical conditions. All participants underwent an anxiety level assessment as well as an autonomic system test (measurement of blood pressure, heart rate, and muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA)).
The researchers found that anxiety was associated with both resting blood pressure and MSNA.
“The conclusion of this study is that both blood pressure and the sympathetic nervous system are associated with anxiety. Anxiety is associated with high blood pressure and sympathetic activity. Previously, such a relationship was only observed in people with anxiety disorders. As a result, we all worry about anxiety even if we seem healthy. needed,” the researchers concluded.
In the future, the authors will continue to examine the impact of anxiety on human health.
