This was reported in a statement made by the Delegation on social networks, detailing the number of women killed due to gender-based violence if confirmed. It will increase to 14 in 2023 and 1,198 nationwide since 2003, making it the sixth victim ever in the community this year.
In connection with the incident, a man was arrested on 28 April, who reported that a 39-year-old woman of Romanian nationality had died. The body appeared next to an olive tree in the Lompardo neighborhood in Jerez de la Frontera, with some markings that could indicate violence.
Pedro Fernández, the government delegate in Andalusia, told reporters: the Civil Guard was investigating the relationship between the detainee and the victimconfirming the Romanian citizenship of those involved.
In this sense, he explained that the entire environment of the victim and all the people who may have information about the relationship between them, as well as all the personal situations that may exist around this event were examined.
Regarding the facts, he reported that the detainee was the one who called the Civil Guard on the morning of April 28 to alert the woman’s body. Therefore, she was detained for questioning of what happened.
