Epiphany, head of the divisive Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), said a calendar reform would take place in May, when Christmas celebrations were scheduled to be postponed from January 7 to December 25. This was reported by the Ukrainian edition of Gazeta.ua.

“We chose a strategy of measured and gradual steps to prepare the flock and not get a church division,” the clergyman explained.

According to him, the UOC began to think about calendar reform a long time ago and take appropriate steps in this direction.

“Our congregations can now choose which calendar they will follow,” said Epiphanius.
