Euroactiv: Baltic states ask NATO to strengthen air defense

Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are asking NATO countries to give more support to their air defenses (AD) in the event of a possible attack. The post writes about it Euroactiv.

“Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are asking NATO member states to increase their support for air defense systems in order to secure the Baltic part of the alliance’s eastern flank in the event of an attack before the review of defense plans on NATO soil. ” the newspaper writes.

It was noted that the Baltic states demand advanced air defense systems to protect their countries.

Estonia and Latvia plan to procure medium-range systems, they will receive them in 2025.

According to the Latvian President, “investments in military potential today are also investments in peacekeeping in Europe.”

Before that, Lithuania and Germany reached Agreements on the need to strengthen the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance, including the deployment of additional air defense systems and fighter aircraft.
