On the night of April 29, two explosions were heard in Sevastopol – both around 4 am. This publication said a local resident of Readovka.
“Two explosions at 4 am. One is in a very muffled place, and the second is directly on the floor of the Gulf of Kazachya. Of course, a fire broke out immediately after that. Everyone was asleep, but the explosions woke them up. The fire brigade arrived in 15 minutes,” he said.
Shortly after, local media reported that a fuel tank was burning in the Kazachya Bay micro-region near Manganari Brothers Street. According to the ForPost portal, according to preliminary data, the fire occurred due to the collision of a drone. The black smoke from the fire is clearly visible from afar. The area where the fire broke out is about 1 thousand square meters. The report states that the local people heard gunshots in the city, and it was stated that the army was apparently trying to shoot down the UAVs.
Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev said that there were no casualties due to the emergency.
“No one was injured … Nothing threatens civilian objects,” the head of the city wrote on his Telegram channel. At the same time, the fire was given the 4th degree of complexity – the highest, because a lot of fuel burns and it takes time to completely eliminate the fire.
The governor added that 18 firefighters and 60 firefighters are currently responding to the fire, and that even a fire train will be activated.
Razvozhaev added that the fire was where it was and headed the emergency response headquarters.
“Together with Alexei Rokhlin, head of the main department of the Sevastopol Ministry of Emergencies, we control all the work to eliminate the fire. The deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Sevastopol, police colonel Alexander Mikhailov, and the city prosecutor Maxim Zhuk are also on the field, ”said the deputy head of the Russian Interior Ministry for Sevastopol.
Razvozhaev also called firefighters heroes, noting the speed and coordination of their actions. He stressed that the fire would not affect the city’s refueling in any way, as the burning reserves were “not used to fuel” gas stations.
The governor also added that Rospotrebnadzor has started measuring MPCs (maximum permissible concentrations of harmful substances – socialbites.ca) in the Kazachya Bay micro-region. In addition, it will inform the townspeople about the results of the measurements.
On April 24, Mikhail Razvozhaev reported on his Telegram channel that the naval drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed on the outskirts of Sevastopol.
“Four residential buildings’ windows were shattered from the explosions of destroyed enemy navy drones. People were not injured, ”wrote Razvozhaev.
Deputy Governor Yevgeny Gorlov was instructed to calculate the damage as a result of the attack and repair the damage taken. Razvozhaev explained that the drone did not enter the Streletskaya Bay. Buildings, piers and other structures were not damaged.
