Rospotrebnadzor announced the first cases of infection with viral encephalitis from ticks in Russia. As of the 17th week of this year, more than 21.7 thousand people applied to health institutions with the complaint of tick bites.

In early April, the department reported that the number of complaints about tick bites has increased by 1.4 times this year, compared with the average long-term indicators. The chapter emphasized the importance of vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis. Currently, about 1.7 million Russians have been vaccinated against encephalitis, with a total of more than 3.48 million planned to be vaccinated this season.

To avoid a tick bite, you should choose plain, light-colored clothing that covers as much of the body surface as possible – it will be easier to spot the tick on it. Also, don’t lie on the grass. A full body and clothing examination should be done after returning from the forest. Most often, sucking mites can be found in the groin, armpits, behind the ears.

If you find a tick stuck to your body, you should contact the trauma center to remove it. If the tick was removed on its own, it should be placed in a container with a damp cotton swab. In this form, the material can be transferred to an accredited laboratory for research.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor discovered a new Haseki virus transmitted from tick bites in the Asian region of Russia. The disease was accompanied by acute respiratory syndrome and fever of 3-5 days. more details material “socialbites.ca”.
