The head of the Swedish Ministry of Defense, Paul Jonsson, said Ukraine must prepare for a long conflict of attrition. He made the relevant statement on the sidelines of the contact group meeting at Ramstein airbase in Germany, RBC-Ukraine reported.
“But unfortunately, I think we have to be prepared that the war may take a long time,” said the minister.
He also pointed out that Kiev’s allies need to make sure they can provide logistics, ammunition and spare parts. Jonsson noted that security of supply is key in such a conflict.
Speaking about the supply of planes to Ukraine, the minister said it was difficult for Stockholm to give up the planes that it had to protect Swedish territory. According to him, the Ukrainian side can achieve air superiority with the help of air defense, therefore, during the meeting at the air base, it was noted that air defense systems are currently of decisive importance.
