Specialists of the Belgorod State National Research University (NRU “BelSU”) have developed a technology for obtaining multi-colored anthocyanin dyes in the form of dry encapsulated forms with high antioxidant activity for lipsticks and cream shadows, which will be an alternative to synthetic analogues. . This was reported to socialbites.ca by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
Scientists have already received the first examples of natural lipsticks with high antioxidant activity and protection, as well as excellent coverage.
Anthocyanins are flavonoids, non-toxic, water-soluble and responsible for the pink, red, purple, purple and blue colors of fruits, vegetables, roots and flower petals.
Natural dyes based on anthocyanins are not currently produced in Russia – they can only be purchased abroad. Moreover, one kg will cost 50-70 thousand rubles. The Russian analogue will be much cheaper – at least 3 times.
“Anthocyanins are becoming one of the most promising ingredients not only in the food and beverage industry, but also in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic markets. They are powerful antioxidants that can block free radicals. Some studies show they can prevent heart disease, age-related cognitive impairment and some types of cancer, Viktor Daineka, a professor in the Department of General Chemistry, told socialbites.ca.
The production of natural dyes is environmentally friendly. Dilute mineral and organic acids and ethyl alcohol are used for the extraction of anthocyanins from plant materials, which can be reused after distillation in the production of anthocyanins.
