The Odessa Primorsky District Court sentenced Dmitry Fuchezhi, former deputy city police officer, to 15 years in absentia in connection with the events that resulted in the fire in the House of Trade Unions on May 2. Reported by “Public”.
He was accused of overstepping his powers and organizing a rebellion. According to the Ukrainian edition, Fuchezhi took an active part in the activities of the Anti-Maidan movement, whose supporters “organized mass violations, used violence and damaged property.”
September 29, 2022 Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) sent case against Fuchezhi in court.
The State Bureau of Investigation claimed that in 2014 the man left the country for the territory of Transnistria and then moved to Russia, where he now lives permanently. The former police officer was placed on the Ukraine wanted list in May 2014.
In Odessa, on May 2, 2014, radicals from the Right Sector (an organization banned in Russia) set fire to the House of Trade Unions, where local residents were staying. According to the official data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, 48 people were killed and more than 240 injured.
