Russians started to buy furniture more often online

In the first quarter of 2023, Russians began to buy furniture from the Internet more often. In Russia as a whole, the share of online orders increased by 9% compared to the first quarter of 2022, and in Moscow by 10%. There were further purchases from 80 to 100 thousand, from 50 to 80 thousand and from 30 to 50 thousand rubles. Analysts from YuMoney fintech company and OFD Platform company’s Chek Index telegram resource came to such conclusions. “socialbites.ca” got acquainted with the results of the study.

From January to March this year, Russians bought 9% more furniture online than in the first quarter of last year. Spending became more rational and conscious, the number of impulsive purchases drastically reduced. This affected the average check: it decreased by 23% and amounted to 22,690 rubles.

The share of purchasing furniture on the Internet among Muscovites increased slightly – 10%. The average bill was 20% less than a year ago and amounted to 23,350 rubles.

Chek Index experts point out that furniture prices continue to fluctuate due to parallel imports. Compared to the spring of 2022, when demand in this category increased, the average amount of spending in 2023 decreased as expected.

Users began to buy expensive furniture less often, which affected the average bill. In the first quarter of this year, the number of furniture sales in the price segment from 100 to 500 thousand rubles decreased by 43 percent compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the share of purchases worth 80 to 100 thousand, 50 to 80 thousand and 30 to 50 thousand rubles slightly increased.

An analysis of 2022 payments showed that the furniture market started to stabilize gradually in July. Compared to June, the number of purchases increased by 7% and turnover by – 3%. In November, growth compared to October was already 24% and 22%, respectively.
