In very rare cases, the severity of acne can be affected by diet, but most patients do not need to give up any food. Vera Voronina, a dermatologist at the Rassvet clinic, told socialbites.ca about this.
“Acne is not directly related to nutrition. There is little evidence that foods high in free carbohydrates, such as baked goods, desserts, rice and wheat, can affect acne severity. Fast food can also affect milk, especially skim milk – the more carbohydrates contain lactose. But only a small number of people have such an addiction, especially in pronounced comedones, ”Vronina explained.
For patients with comedones who suspect their diet is affecting their acne, the dermatologist recommended eliminating the listed foods for four to six weeks and then gradually reintroducing them into the diet and assessing the skin’s reaction. If there has been no improvement in such a diet, it is completely inappropriate to completely refuse products.
