The family of a prisoner who died in prison in the USA claims that he was eaten alive by bedbugs. Now his relatives are demanding an investigation into his death. GIS News.
On June 12, 2022, a man went to jail for assault. He was taken to the Fulton County Penitentiary, Atlanta, and placed in a psychiatric ward for mental health issues. Three months later he was found dead in a dirty prison cell. According to the information obtained, the prisoner was completely covered with insects.
Records show that paramedics and security guards noticed his condition deteriorating, but did not provide any assistance to the victim. According to the family’s lawyer, prison staff only watched the deteriorating health of the prisoner until he died.
“When his body was found, one of the detention center staff refused to give CPR because he was afraid,” the lawyer said about the details of the incident. The man wants the county jail to be closed on behalf of the victim’s relatives.
Prior to that, the county sheriff is known to have voiced concerns about the overcrowding of prison facilities and the need for additional funding. He said that 428 detainees were lying on the ground due to the violation of shelter conditions.
