In the Novosibirsk region there are one and a half times more obese people than the average for Russia, transmits Sib.fm, with reference to the press service of the regional Ministry of Health. The ministry noted that this figure continues to increase.
In 2021, the national average was reported to be 261 obese per 100,000 people. In the same period, more than 409 cases were registered in the Novosibirsk region. Last year, this figure rose to 527 in the region.
Experts of the Ministry of Health of the Novosibirsk Region warn that obesity is the cause of many diseases. Doctors urge residents of the region to be more careful with their diet and take into account the calorie content of the food consumed.
Formerly University of California scientists discoveredthat obesity factors are different for men and women. The results of the research were published in the journal Brain Communications.
