The Russian children’s and youth movement “First Movement”, covering the whole of Russia, “We are citizens of Russia!” announced the start of the campaign. This academic year alone, more than 500,000 young people in the country’s 89 regions will receive their first passports at official ceremonies, the movement’s press service reported.

The first participants of the action were hundreds of children from the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO), the Altai Territory, the republics of Dagestan and Tatarstan, the Kaliningrad, Astrakhan, Tula, Novosibirsk and Orenburg regions, as well as from Moscow.

“It has long been a good tradition in our country to give 14-year-old schoolchildren the first passports, but for years it lacked consistency, seriousness and awareness of the importance of this special moment and was just a formality for the majority. “I am sure that the first receipt of the main personal document should be a real event for any teenager,” said Grigory Gurov, Chairman of the Board of the First Movement for Children and Youth of Russia.

The all-Russian action, designed to create a civic, patriotic position of the younger generation, a sense of identity and ownership of the destiny of the state, was supported at the highest level in the first participating regions. So, the guest of honor of the solemn ceremony in Moscow was the head of the Moscow City Duma, Alexei Shaposhnikov, who presented the passports in the Moscow City Duma building.

Recall that the Movement for Children and Youth of Russia was founded by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin, its constituent assembly was held on July 20, 2022.
