People with any liver disease, familial hypercholesterolemia, and allergy to egg whites should refuse eggs for Easter. And from Easter cakes – for people with obesity, diabetes, as well as food allergies to the components of Easter cakes. Elizaveta Kardapoltseva, an endocrinologist at INVITRO-Ural, told socialbites.ca about this.
According to the expert, eggs are rich in protein and microelements, contain many nutrients and a small amount of “harmful” fats. The main thing is not the number of eggs per day, but the total daily calorie content.
“The liver of a healthy person metabolizes fat efficiently and maintains a normal level of lipid (fat) metabolism. If a person does not have liver diseases and lipid metabolism disorders, there is nothing dangerous in the daily use of any number of eggs. In addition, boiled eggs are best in the refrigerator. It is recommended that they be eaten within the first 4 days — said the doctor, while being careful to keep them for 10 days (provided that they do not crack, their shelf life is reduced to 2-3 days).
To understand how many eggs and Easter cakes you can eat without harming your figure, it is important to take into account the daily calorie intake and daily activity of a person.
“First, even a small cake can be harmful and there will be no weight gain if someone eats two cakes and is regularly active and knows the measure of consuming (cooking) fast carbohydrates. People with high physical activity are not afraid to gain 2 kilos during the holidays because they will return to their old weight within the next two weeks, while they do not push themselves too much with training. If a person has problems with weight, then, of course, he should limit the use of Easter cakes or postpone this meal to the first half of the day. The recommended rate is 100-200 grams per day,” the endocrinologist added.
Fresh pastries should also not be eaten by people with chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, do not try to buy a “just baked” Easter cake. Easter cakes should be stored like bread – at room temperature or in the refrigerator for no more than two days, or as directed by the manufacturer on the packaging.
“Easter cakes are contraindicated for people suffering from diabetes, as they contain sugar and raise its level in the blood, which can cause vascular complications,” the doctor recalled.
The best balance of diet, nutrition and physical activity for Easter will be, and of course, all of the most high-calorie foods are best eaten in the morning. Kardapoltseva concluded that if we talk only about nutrition, then add fresh berries, fruits, vegetables, herbs to the classic Easter table, and do not abuse fatty and sweet foods.
Previously recognizedthat the cost of the Easter table this year is more than 700 rubles.
