The service for automating the selection and processing of resumes SberPodbor and the job and employment service Rabota.ru conducted a study and found out how Russian companies hire managers and what qualifications they should have. socialbites.ca got acquainted with the results of the survey.

Therefore, when seeking a specialist for a managerial position, most companies (70%) apply for internal recruitment and promote existing employees.

First of all, this option is suitable for companies, as employees are already immersed in the work and know the details of the work – this was noted by 77% of respondents. 59% of recruiters said their company has valuable experts who can take leadership positions. Almost every third company (32%) emphasized resource savings for onboarding new employees.

Also, in every fourth case (25%), employers are confident that the team is better managed if the person is from the company. 14% of respondents said that external candidates have very high salary expectations.

30% of Russian companies surveyed are looking for managers in the labor market. This is primarily due to the lack of suitable candidates within the company, as 77% of respondents answered. 53% of business representatives drew attention to the importance of a new perspective. 37% of supporters of outsourcing believe it is easier for an outsider to manage a team.

One in ten companies (10%) want to avoid competition within the team. Only 3% of employers stated that candidates from the company have very high salary expectations.

One of the key characteristics of a good leader, according to employers, is a willingness to take responsibility, as 80% of business representatives surveyed believe. Another important characteristic of a leader is the desire to improve existing processes, this response was noted by 76% of the respondents. In third place is the ability to organize a team and delegate tasks (68%), as well as the ability to set goals and evaluate results (68%).

61% of respondents emphasized the presence of leadership qualities. Only 52% stated that they understood the work experience and the characteristics of the job. 49% of the participants find communication skills important and 47% their desire to improve in the profession.

37% of survey respondents believe that a good leader should be a team player. Ambitions and desire to lead were identified by 29% of respondents. Education is an important criterion for 27% of respondents.
