According to a survey conducted by the Mediacom.Expert PR agency using the online panel Surveyolog.ru, 49% of Russian children aged 5 to 8 and 34% of teenagers aged 14 to 17 want to become astronauts. “socialbites.ca” got acquainted with the results of the study.
When asked what attracted them to work in space science, the answers were: interesting job – 25%; wants to go to space – 24%; seeing other planets – 21%; examine the unknown – 16%; Seeing the Earth from space – 10%.
The vast majority of children aged 5-8 (79%) want to go to the moon. Among respondents aged 9 to 13, there are slightly fewer people who want to visit the satellite of the Earth – 66%, and in the group from 14 to 17 – 62%.
Also, the majority of parents surveyed (89%) have heard of such an aspect as space tourism (flights of ordinary citizens into space or low Earth orbit for recreational or scientific and educational purposes).
At the same time, 64% of respondents will most likely take a chance and agree to participate in the space tourism program. 62% recommend their children to take advantage of this opportunity.
As for childhood, just over a third (35%) of Russians surveyed wanted to be astronauts or work in the space industry, and another 6% agreed.
