The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine announced that 10 Russian judges who voted for the recognition of the independence of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will be tried in absentia in the country. DEA News.
“Under the procedural leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office, a special pre-trial investigation was completed and the indictment against 10 judges of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation was sent to the court,” the agency said in a statement.
The Prosecutor General’s Office noted that the judges were accused of violating Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability.
The investigation claims that the judges made decisions on October 2, 2022, recognizing the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions and recognizing these regions as part of Russia.
On September 30, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions became part of Russia. Prior to the annexation of the territories, Russia recognized the independence of the DPR and LPR within the borders of the territories of which they were part of Ukraine.
