At a meeting Wednesday, April 12, the Federation Council discussed the possibility of considering changes to electronic subpoenas and the combined registry of persons responsible for military service. This was reported to socialbites.ca by Vyacheslav Timchenko, chairman of the Federation Council’s committee of regulations. However, he noted that the final decision has not been made yet.
“This is the Defense and Security Committee’s responsibility, they should make the decision. But at least today the possibility has been discussed, there is such a possibility. But the final decision is the decision of the Defense and Security Committee, which is the chairman of the Federation Council,” he said.
Earlier, the State Duma at the second and third readings accepted amendments to the military register and the creation of a unified electronic register of electronic agendas. The bill was passed despite the objections of some lawmakers: they complained that they did not have time to carefully study all the 60-page changes.
According to the adopted amendments, summons will now be sent to citizens both in writing and electronically. An electronic call is deemed to have been served after it appears in the citizen’s personal account “in the appropriate information source, information system”. It is also planned to create a unified register of persons responsible for military service.
In addition, parliamentarians approved an amendment in the general assembly that the conscription of citizens who are required to have a military record can be made without going to the military registry and summons office in person. For this, information belonging to registered citizens will be used.
In addition, the State Duma approved an amendment limiting the right to drive to those who escaped the draft.
