Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites are capable of conducting electronic warfare directly from space. About it in a chat with Life said military expert Alexei Leonkov. He explained that each such device has four transmit antennas pointed to the ground, meaning they can “look” at a satellite flying in a lower orbit by suppressing its signal.

“Starlink satellites emit a millimeter wave signal that can transmit information in 5G format. But you can configure this signal, make it not as an information carrier, but purely as an energy signal, make it stronger and focus these four antennas on one point. And if a spacecraft hits this focal point, it could affect its equipment,” Leonkov explained.

However, author Dmitry Konanykhin, popularizer of astronautics, avoided such assumptions about Starlink, noting that these satellites primarily function to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, he acknowledged that technically the impact of the spacecraft on the neighboring one is possible.

Previously at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declarationThat Ukraine, with the participation of foreign experts, is trying to influence Russian civil communications satellites.
