Amendments to the law “On military service and military service” are not oppressive. This was expressed by Dmitry Agranovsky, a Russian lawyer, director of the Moscow Bar Association “Liptser, Stavitskaya and Associates”.

According to him, changes in the military registration system are aimed at correcting the shortcomings identified in 2022, as well as improving the quality of interaction between the citizen and the state. He believes the paper interaction system is hopelessly outdated. At the same time, he added that the system will become more people-oriented.

“Our state, contrary to the accusations of the West, was not prepared at all for the conflict, and the system of military registration, unfortunately, did not stray too far from the system immediately after the Great Patriotic War,” said Agranovsky.

He emphasized that it is a necessity of the age to move the military registration system to a modern technical level.

“What is currently being proposed is, in its technical and legal nature, most similar to the reporting of fines or tax arrears by drivers through the State Services,” he said, noting that this coincides with today.

The lawyer noted that only citizens will benefit from the proposed changes. According to him, this law aims to ensure that the citizen is informed in a timely manner and takes appropriate measures, as well as to ensure that more serious charges, for example, related to possible smuggling, do not arise.

“The citizen will learn the state notifications sent to him in a timely manner. Government announcements should be followed. For example, if you don’t pay fines or don’t pay your taxes on time, you’ll switch to a new quality and have more serious problems already. So here, if you learn about your duties in time, for example, about conscription, then you will only benefit from it, because otherwise you will have to prove that you did not receive a summons, ”said Agranovsky.

He emphasized that this law, both technically and legally, “firstly is progressive and secondly, it will facilitate the life of not only the state but also the citizens.”

“I hope this system streamlines this space that is not as necessary as we thought. But the need arose, so we must bring this system to life and bring it to the modern technical level, ”the lawyer concluded.
