The most popular “childhood dream” profession among Russians is the profession of medicine – 20% of respondents gave a name to it, while one in six people dreamed of becoming an astronaut. This was demonstrated by a survey of the Mir Kubikov chain of stores, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
So cosmonauts were in second place: 16.5% of the study participants said they dreamed of flying into space in their childhood. More than 12% of the participants are representatives of a creative profession (artist, singer, dancer, painter or writer), 7% are engineers, 7% are scientists, 5% are firefighters or police, 4% are teachers and 4 of them wanted to be IT professionals. Less than 3% of respondents named other occupations.
Almost a third (32%) of respondents said they like doing what has become their profession since childhood. Of those surveyed, 23% were inspired by a cartoon character, movie or book example, 14% by their parents’ example, and 7% by the image of a famous person.
40% of the respondents when they dream of a certain profession in their childhood, they first want to be useful, 18% want to be a hero or famous person, 15% are influenced by the romance of the profession, 15% – the probability of good earnings, and 7% are creative thought about self-actualization.
Almost a quarter (24%) of the participants were able to fulfill their dreams and it has become what they have dreamed of since childhood. A third (33%) of those surveyed did not succeed, but the dream is still alive. 18% chose another profession that could bring more money, 13% said they were discouraged by their parents, and 12% said they did not get into university in their dream specialty.
More than 47% of the respondents said they liked their current job, 40% said they wanted to change, half said they would, and the other half thought it was too late. 13% of respondents have already changed their profession.
According to the answers of the parents, only 8% of their preschool and school-aged children want to be astronauts. In the first place among the dream professions of modern children – firefighter or police – 12% of parents responded in this way, 11% of the answers were scored by an IT specialist and representatives of the creative professions (dancers, artists). , singers, artists, writers), almost 10% of children want to be scientists, 8% are doctors, 7% are entrepreneurs and the same number of engineers, 6% want to be athletes.
