The medical operation was led by Alexander Lishchuk, head of the Center for Cardiac Surgery. The bullet pierced the soldier’s heart. As Lishchuk explains, the patient was admitted from the front lines, the same day we did all the necessary investigations. They were immediately taken to the operating table.
The lead is soldered to the left ventricle and pericardium. Part of the left ventricle was ruptured. The bullet also passed through the left lung. Large ships passed nearby, but the bullet did not hit them, so the soldier survived.
“Now, after the removal of this foreign body, of course, he will fully recover and return to his official duties,” the doctor said.
It was noted that the operation took place in a unique hybrid operating room created exclusively at the Vishnevsky Central Military Clinical Hospital. The operating room is equipped with all the necessary modern medical equipment, which allows it to simultaneously perform several interventions of different complexity, and most importantly, doctors of various profiles.
“The sergeant was on the front line, he came under fire when he raised his left arm, the sniper shot him in the left half of his chest and shot through the tissues of the bulletproof vest,” Lishchuk said of the injury.
Regarding the results of the study, the physician said, “The heart has improved, the studies are good, tomorrow the patient will already be walking.”
According to him, a team of front-line military surgeons has already performed more than a hundred such operations to remove bullets and shrapnel from the heart.
