At least five people were injured as a result of the collapse of a residential building in the center of Marseille, France, information confirmed by the city’s mayor, Benoit Payan. It has been reported BFMTV.
“Five people were hospitalized in a situation that required relative urgency to provide assistance,” the mayor said.
As stated, search and rescue operations still cannot be started due to the ongoing fire.
“We must prepare for the fact that there will be victims,” added Payan.
There is also a risk of collapse of a neighboring building. The incident occurred on Tivoli Street in the 5th district.
Several streets around the building were cordoned off, with rescuers continuing to work at night.
Journalists found that dust still hung in the air in some nearby streets.
