Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleg Nikolenko, criticized the participation of young people from Ukraine and Russia in the Way of the Cross ceremony near the walls of the Colosseum on Good Friday. He wrote this on his social networks.
“We are disappointed that the Vatican did not take into account the Ukrainian side’s allegations about the offensive nature of such a gesture,” he wrote.
Oleg Nikolenko, former official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine criticized Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lulu da Silva for his remarks on the status of Crimea.
According to Nikolenko, mediators in the negotiation processes should not forget about the restoration of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with the UN Charter.
The representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added that Kiev appreciated the efforts of the Brazilian president to find a solution to stop the conflict, but “it does not trade in Ukraine’s territory.”
The Brazilian President had previously said that “Crimea may not be open to discussion” as part of a possible negotiation process on the situation in Ukraine.
