The Pentagon has launched an investigation into the leaking of classified US military documents. This was reported by The New York Times, citing representatives of the administration of US President Joe Biden.

“We are aware of the social media posts and the ministry is investigating the matter,” the US military department told reporters.

The published documents contain information about the secret military plans of the United States and NATO to strengthen and increase the size of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the eve of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.

The documents were published on social networks – among other things, they contain data on the programs for the supply of weapons to Kiev, the strength of the Ukrainian army and its individual units. At the same time, the NYT reports that these documents do not contain specific war plans. In addition, the situation assessment given at the front was up-to-date as of March 1, 2023.

The files say 6 out of 12 Ukrainian military combat groups trained in the US and other NATO countries should complete their training by early April.

Three more brigades must complete the refresher course by early May. The number of each of these battle groups reaches 5 thousand people.

The leaked documents also mention US spending on the procurement of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. Earlier, the Pentagon did not disclose how much ammunition the Armed Forces of Ukraine spent on this MLRS, but now these data are in the public domain.

Data on the supply of armored vehicles also became known – in addition, the USA plans to supply the Armed Forces with 250 tanks and 350 infantry fighting vehicles.

“This type of intelligence leak, posted on social media and found all over the world, will certainly harm intelligence sharing between Ukraine and the United States,” the NYT said in a report.

At the same time, the White House tried to get the classified documents removed from social networks, but so far this has not been done.

On April 7, The New York Times also reported that US military intelligence forwarded to the UAF the coordinates of Russian army military bases to kill Russian generals.

“During the conflict, the United States informed Ukraine about command posts, ammunition depots and other key points along Russian military lines,” the article says.

It was this intelligence that allowed Ukrainian forces to “kill high-ranking generals and divert ammunition supplies farther from the Russian front,” according to the newspaper.

According to data confirmed by the Russian side, three generals were killed during the fighting in Ukraine, one of which was the pilot Kanamat Botashev. According to the Ukrainian side, Russia allegedly lost nine of its generals. But even the American media admits that some of Ukraine’s claims cannot be verified.
