The Internet plays a critical role in human development, especially in developing countries. This result researchIt was published in Political Philosophy and Economics.

The article was published by Merten Reglitz, an ethologist at the University of Birmingham. Ethology is a branch of philosophy that studies moral and ethical issues. In the article, he highlighted several problems with the Internet, even in developed countries. First, students who do not have access to the network are at a disadvantage compared to those who can use online manuals and encyclopedias. Second, access to online medical and reference information is impossible without the Internet, making medical care difficult, especially for those living in remote areas. Finally, without the Internet in the modern world, it is almost impossible to find a job, rent a house or apply for utilities that are not even computer related.

In the case of underdeveloped countries, these problems are exacerbated, moreover, people may not have internet in them. For example, 20 percent of children aged 6 to 11 in sub-Saharan Africa are out of school. Among those who visit, many are forced to travel for more than an hour, working in dilapidated classrooms in unsanitary conditions and with a shortage of teachers. For many of these individuals, moving to distance learning and accessing online courses may be a good thing.

It also makes it possible to compensate for the lack of internet, medical personnel and equipment in Africa. For example, in Kenya, especially in remote areas where there is a shortage of GPs, a smartphone-based portable vision screening kit (Peek) has been used to test vision and identify people in need of treatment.

Based on all this, the ethologist calls for the right to housing, education and health, as well as the right to use the Internet, to be included in the list of human rights.
