Russian businessman Viktor Bout has explained why he decided to join the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) after he got out of an American prison and returned to Russia. He talked about this in an interview with socialbites.ca.
According to Bout, his decision to join the LDPR was influenced by the personality of the late party chairman, Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
“You see, he became such a prophet that everything he said in general is now more relevant. On the other hand, the position you can talk openly about is such a constructive position of the Liberal Democratic Party, probably [мне] closer,” he said.
Bout has been serving a 25-year sentence in the United States since 2012 on charges of planning to kill Americans and financially supporting terrorism. On December 8, 2022, he was traded to American basketball player Brittney Griner. On December 12, the entrepreneur received an LDPR party card.
Earlier, it was reported that regional branches of the LDPR were opened in the LPR and Zaporozhye region. According to party chairman Leonid Slutsky, Bout intend Actively participate in the restoration of new territories of Russia.
