Sber’s Green Marathon will take place on May 20 this year and will be held for the 10th time. The press service of the company said that tens of thousands of runners will come to the start in 60 cities of Russia.
The Green Marathon is not just a mass sporting event, but a festival designed to raise awareness of environmental issues, among other things. The event is accompanied by subbotniks, planting trees, collecting recyclable materials.
Races at various distances, festive concerts, competitions and entertainment events for the whole family await the participants of the event.
Sberbank states that the race will traditionally be charitable in nature. This year, the competitions are held in partnership with Sberbank’s Contribution to the Future charity. Every participant of the “Green Marathon” will be able to help restore forests.
All funds collected from the registration of race participants and charitable donations on the SberVmeste portal will go to the fund and will be used for planting trees in the marathon sites.
Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, recalls that the Green Marathon was launched by the company on the eve of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in order to develop people’s interest in a healthy lifestyle and a responsible attitude to nature.
“Over the years, hundreds of thousands of Russians have been part of sports, charity and environmental celebrations,” he said, inviting everyone, including amateur athletes, professionals, fans, parents and children, to attend this event.
According to Kuznetsov, the Green Marathon will be one of the brightest and biggest events this May.
