According to a survey by VseInstrumenty.ru, the majority of Russians (68%) are sure that housework should be separated into men and women. This is the opinion of 95% of women and 69% of men surveyed. “socialbites.ca” got acquainted with the results of the study.
Among those who believe that responsibilities should be shared by gender, cooking (73%), raising children (68%), managing the family budget (34%) and cleaning (16%) are most often referred to as “women’s” jobs.
Respondents cite maintaining and repairing a car (68%), paying bills (64%), maintaining subsidiary farming (38%), as well as working in a house adjacent to the plot (10%) as their “male” duties.
45% of respondents admitted that they sometimes argue with family members because of housework. Conflicts often arise because of untidy things (37%), dirty dishes (33%), order of cleaning (23%), as well as a lack of help with raising children (23%) and caring for animals (21%).
According to 41% of Russians surveyed, the presence of housekeepers will help them avoid discussions about domestic matters. A third (34%) of respondents are confident that smart home appliances will solve this problem. 27% believe that cooking at home will help reduce the degree of conflict. A nanny for children will reduce the number of conflicts in 9% of respondents. For this question, participants can choose more than one answer.
