A senior source from the Indian Ministry of Defense said that India will soon test the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system it bought from Russia. Agency reports moment.

“It is planned to open fire on a fast-moving air target very soon, using either short-range or medium-range missiles,” said a representative of the Indian Ministry of Defense.

According to him, the Russian anti-aircraft missile system has missiles capable of hitting warplanes or cruise missiles at a maximum range of 400 km. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense added that the Indian Armed Forces launched the S-400 air defense system during tests in Russia, but the system has not yet been tested in India.

On March 1st, India accepted Third batch of S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia. The first two batches of the complex were received in December 2021 and April 2022 and deployed to guard the Pakistani and Chinese borders.

Due to the sanctions against Russia, India is looking for alternative ways to pay for the supply and maintenance of weapons from the Russian Federation.

By the end of 2023, India will receive five batches of S-400 air defense systems.
