The professor is suing the university for failing to renew his contract after a scandal over his stance on homosexuality and religion. It has been reported College Fix.

Daniel Mattson has been a visiting professor at the Western Michigan University School of Music since 1999. The man sued the leadership of the educational institution for violation of his constitutional right to freedom of expression, the free practice of religion. According to the plaintiff, the university administration did not renew his employment contract after he announced that he had “relinquished his homosexual orientation”. According to the lawsuit, the former professor is seeking reinstatement and compensation.

Earlier, campus activists said the professor’s views on Catholicism were offensive to gay students and protested his continued collaboration with the school. Soon after, his management fired the victim from the teaching staff, and he did not renew his one-year contract.

In 2018, an adjunct professor wrote an article titled “Why Men Like Me Shouldn’t Be Priests.” In it, Mattson supported the position of the Catholic Church that men with homosexual tendencies could not be considered suitable candidates for clergy. At the same time, in 2017, the teacher became the author of the memoir “Why I do not call myself gay: how I regained my sexual reality and found peace.”

In the lawsuit, Mattson claims he never discussed his religious beliefs with students or on campus, but was fired over public backlash caused by the publications.

Western Michigan University’s media relations division did not comment on the situation.

Formerly American politician implied guilt women, gays and blacks are in America’s troubles.
