Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said in a briefing that NATO’s enlargement, especially Finland’s entry into the alliance, forced the Russian Federation to take countermeasures to ensure its security.
The Kremlin spokesman once again aggravates the situation with Finland’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance and describes it as an encroachment on the security of the Russian Federation.
Peskov said, “We will take countermeasures on how to ensure our own security in tactical and strategic terms,” and stressed that these measures will be as Russia deems necessary.

Finland and Sweden applied to join NATO in 2022. The process of joining the alliance of the Scandinavian countries was delayed due to disagreements between the countries and Türkiye.
