Compared with the average long-term indicators, the number of complaints about tick bites increased by 1.4 times, Rospotrebnadzor reported.

To date, nearly a thousand applications have been registered. At the same time, cases of tick-borne encephalitis and borreliosis have not yet been identified. Most cases were recorded in the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Rostov and Kaliningrad regions.

The chapter emphasized the importance of vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis. It was also noted that in 2023, the area treated against ticks will be 10% more than in the past.

To avoid a tick bite, you should choose plain, light-colored clothing that covers as much of the body surface as possible – it will be easier to spot the tick on it. Also, don’t lie on the grass. A full body and clothing examination should be done after returning from the forest. Most often, sucking mites can be found in the groin, armpits, behind the ears.

If you find a tick stuck to your body, you should contact the trauma center to remove it. If the tick was removed on its own, it should be placed in a container with a damp cotton swab. In this form, the material can be transferred to an accredited laboratory for research.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor discovered a new Haseki virus transmitted from tick bites in the Asian region of Russia. The disease was accompanied by acute respiratory syndrome and fever of 3-5 days. More details – in material “socialbites.ca”.
